Baby Dolphin Designs was started by Danielle Burns in October of 2013 when she combined her love of creative design and sewing with her concern for the environment to create a line of luxuriously soft organic blankets and accessories for babies and kids.
Her maiden name -- Dolphin -- is what inspired her shop name.
And with a maiden name that great, how could she not start a business?!
Danielle is 26 years old, originally from Mason City IA; she graduated college from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Apparel Design. After graduation, she moved to Minneapolis, MN for her first job in technical design and then transferred to a smaller company to design baby bedding.
It was then that her love affair with baby & child products began!
After seeing the lack of options out there for unique, modern and organic baby items -- and with a lot of support and encouragement from her husband and family -- Baby Dolphin Designs was born. Being from Iowa, Danielle's dad had started a tomato company in 2009 that offered organic tomatoes, grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides; it didn't take long until every single tomato was flying off the shelves because the high quality set them apart from all other tomatoes. The combination of her Dad's business inspiration and her passion for design evolved into her beautiful line of products -- gift items that are good for baby and good for the environment!
All of her swaddle blankets are made of the softest organic cotton; Baby Dolphin believes that buying organic is the key to helping the environment. Each year thousands of pounds of chemicals are used to grow and fertilize conventional cotton crops. Danielle stated, "To some extent, we are all affected by the production and application of pesticides and poisons. At Baby Dolphin, we take great pride in our fabrics because they are grown with natural fertilizers and are free from toxic chemicals. The dyes used in the prints are environmentally friendly and water based, leaving them safe for you and for the environment."

Her company sources high quality certified organic cotton fabrics in patterns and prints designed exclusively in house. From there each item is cut, sewn and packaged with love in her home in Victoria, MN.
