Happy April! I am so excited to finally share with you all that APRIL will be all about Creating a Dream Home & Nursery! Throughout the month both here on my blog and on instagram @blessednestblog, I'll be featuring my favorite shops for nursery pieces, home decor & more. Plus I'm partnering with some incredible brands + handmade shops to give away all of it to you! Think Minted, The Land of Nod, BlaBla Kids, Summer Infant & more.
Today I'm delighted to share one of my newest favorite shops for beautiful toys for all ages. Curated by teachers and educational professionals, and featuring a wide selection of eco-friendly, sustainable and beautifully crafted pieces, Rose & Rex has quickly become a shop I've fallen for. Both girls had a few Rose & Rex favorites in their Easter baskets this year and I just love everything about them!
The perfect spot to find toys of all sorts that spark creativity and encourage imaginative play, Rose & Rex is a curated online toy boutique which offers products that help cultivate fundamental cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills. And as you can see, their toys are just as beautiful scattered across a child's bedroom floor or sitting out on a bookshelf as they are while in use. All the toys that Rose & Rex carry are made using high-quality, sustainable and toxic-free materials, making them safe for even the littlest hands. Good thing, because Poppy has been trying to eat her new hamburger maraca and french fry rattle all week.
Each toy in Rose & Rex's collection is thoughtfully selected by education professionals, teachers and child development experts to foster well-rounded skill building. So even while a child doesn't realize how much they're learning -- because these toys were designed & chosen to support all facets of development -- they are gaining skills and building strengths seamlessly during play.
AND if that weren't incredible enough, Rose & Rex partners with like-minded organizations to "play it forward" as they call it, to ensure that every purchase makes a positive impact and they remain on a mission to give every child an opportunity to play. You can read more about their partnership organizations and play-it-forward movement here.
I've rounded up a handful of my absolute favorite toys from Rose & Rex, including a few we own that the girls love. Blocks are always a classic toy, perfect to give a child of any age because a baby even as young as 6 months enjoys playing with them (Olivia and I stack them up, Penelope knocks them down...) and they are the perfect toy to grow with your child. Rose & Rex features a wide assortment of blocks and building toys here; Olivia loves the House Blocks set {7} and enjoys putting each block back in its place when she's finished as much as she does taking them out & playing with them. Featuring 41 heirloom-quality blocks of all shapes & sizes in the most beautiful colors and a house to store them all in, they allow for ideal open-ended play. A child can build a house, car, and more and then using the inside guide, learn to match shapes and sizes one by one as they refill the house for next time. It encourages problem solving, spatial awareness and storytelling.
Another favorite item from Rose & Rex are their tegu blocks, wooden blocks with hidden magnets inside to connect and build all sorts of structures, big and small. Last Christmas we chose a set of Tegu blocks for Olivia & she absolutely loves them. I keep them in a basket that is easily accessible in our living room so she can pull them out and play anytime. Offered in both brights & neutrals, they are perfect construction tool for inspiring imagination and because they come in different size kits, you can start with a simple tegu pocket pack {2} which is perfect for on-the-go and easily fits into a diaper bag or go all out with a 42-piece set for hours of endless play.
Aside from building toys, Rose & Rex offers a wide variety of toys perfect for pretend. My favorites are those for the kitchen, since Olivia has a play kitchen she got when she was about 18 months and it remains her favorite toy to this day. We love this crepe shop kit and the hamburger and fries instrument set {6} Seriously, so darling. It would make the perfect gift for a child's first birthday and even if they don't have a full play kitchen of their own, this double sided cardboard oven + fridge {10} looks so fun! How many times do we get toys for our kids and then they just want to play with the boxes they came in? Olivia loves playing pretend with boxes and this pairing would be such a fun gift.
A few other favorites are the origami bath toy {5}, which the girls play with every day and anything Maileg (one of our all-time favorite brands), including the Princess and the Pea Bunny Set {11}. Every single thing in their shop is lovely. You truly can't go wrong! Because we are all such fans of Rose & Rex, I've teamed up with them to give away a $50 SHOP CREDIT to one of you to pick out your own favorite toys! Head over to my instagram to enter and for more details. For an extra entry, visit the Rose & Rex website here and leave a comment below sharing your favorite item!!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! XO
