the easter basket

Easter is only 12 days away and in our house, it is one of most important days of the year -- celebrating Christ's resurrection. Not only that, but this year is Olivia's first Easter, which of course means I had to go all out for her basket. Since I was a little girl, I loved looking for my Easter basket, filled with plastic eggs, little toys, books and of course - my favorite candy. This year we are forgoing the candy in favor of extra books for our little bookworm. Bunnies and lambs are Olivia's two favorite animals, and they have been since she was born, so she is in for a real treat! She has no idea yet but I'm pretty sure Easter is going to be her favorite holiday.

I thought it would be fun to share a list of what is going in V's Easter basket this year incase you are still looking for treats to fill your little one's basket with.

For me, the anatomy of a perfect Easter basket includes the following:

Something to Read //
>> At least one Easter / Springtime book -- Find our favorites here <<

Something to Wear //
 >> Such as bunny pajamas, brightly colored moccasins or a fun Spring headband <<

>> Some to Cuddle //
>> Such as a stuffed bunny or lamb, lovey or blanket <<

>> Something for Play //
>> Such as a small puzzle, bubbles, or a wooden toy camera -- Our favorite here <<

Something Sentimental //
>> Such as a book or toy from your childhood, a special gift you found during your pregnancy, or something that is customized for your babe <<

Olivia's First Easter Basket

Something to Read //

Something to Wear //

Something to Cuddle //
Jellycat Fuddlewuddle Lamb, which Dustin chose & a Jellycat Floral Bubble Bunny, which I chose (now retired; similar here) // Olivia was given this Jellycat Nugget Bunny as a gift earlier this year and I just saved it to sneak in her basket also. No such thing as too many bunnies!

She is also getting a beautiful handmade lovey from The Bird & Elephant (available here) to cuddle during naps and bedtime; her security blankets from birth (my favorite here) are very worn so I thought it would be fitting to put a new one in her basket, especially because the pattern is a little girl holding a bunny rabbit

Something for Play //
A small Easter peg puzzle I picked up from the dollar section at Target (score!)

Something Sentimental //
Every year during Mother's Day weekend there is a big craft fair at the state fairgrounds and of course, every year my mom and I attend. Last year was my first unofficial Mother's day & I was 36 weeks pregnant. My mom and I went to the craft fair and I found a crinkle toy in the shape and pattern of a carrot. I couldn't wait to put it in Olivia's first Easter basket, and a year later, there it is. Available here

Classic Brown Basket (available here) & Peter Rabbit Liner (available here) are from Pottery Barn Kids. Right now all their baskets and liners are 20% off, double score!

What are you putting in your baby's Easter basket this year?
Stay tuned for a round up of my other basket ideas coming this weekend!
