Olivia is my little sleeping beauty -- she loves her sleep almost as much as I love mine! Some days, I'm convinced she loves it even more! Olivia has been sleeping through the night since about 8 weeks (read more about our sleep training experience here) and since then, over the past 8 months we have gotten into a great & easy bedtime routine.
1 // A+A Security Blanket -- I bought these during my pregnancy & I began giving these to Olivia around 1 month old. They are the perfect size for her to snuggle with but small enough and light enough that I don't worry about her suffocating or overheating. They are the perfect size for her little hands and because they are muslin, they are breathable and they get softer with every wash! We take these everywhere and no nap or bedtime routine is complete without them! Available here.
2 // Baby Doll for Cuddles -- Olivia's favorite stuffed animals since she was born have always been bunnies, and while she still sleeps with two of her favorites, she has recently started carrying around her baby doll (Kate) that Grandma and Grandpa gave her. She takes it everywhere so naturally, she sleeps with it too. Available here.
3 // Storybooks -- Reading with Olivia is one of our favorite things to do, and over the past two months we have seen her fall in love with books on a whole new level. She loves to sit and page through them, open and close them and look at all the pictures. She pulls books out of her toy bins and bookshelves and anytime she sees a book in my hand, she has a smile on her face. I think reading before bed is so important for so many reasons so we commit to read her at least one story every night. For our favorite books, check out my monthly Lit List Series here.
4 // Halo Sleep Sack -- In the hospital as a newborn, Olivia was put into a halo sleep swaddle. At home, she started sleeping in a sleep sack around three months of age (the summer was much too hot for it), originally in the Halo Sleep Sack Swaddle (available here). She outgrew that around 6 months so we moved up to the Medium size of the original Sleep Sack. I love this kind because there is plenty of room for her to wiggle and move but I know she's always warm enough and cozy. Available here.
5 // Sophie Teether -- Now that Olivia is really starting to teethe, I leave a teether in her crib for naps and most nights. She typically doesn't even know its there when I put her to bed, but in the mornings she wakes up and chews on it quietly while I am getting up and eating breakfast. I think it is nice to have something there for her incase her teeth hurt and since she doesn't take a pacifier, this is the perfect choice. Available here.
6 // Hanna Andersson Pajamas -- These are the only pajamas Olivia has worn since birth and we love everything about them -- the fun patterns, the organic cotton, the fit, the feel, how they hold up in the wash, the lifetime quality guarantee -- everything! I highly recommend these pajamas for any and every baby -- they don't shrink in the wash and they are guaranteed for life -- if anything happens (broken zipper, separating seam, etc.), they are replaced at no cost. They are a bit more expensive than most pajamas but I love that they are organic cotton and Hanna Andersson runs a lot of sales where they are BOGO or BOGO 50% off, so that's when I buy them. 7 // California Baby Calendula Cream -- If you read my post on our "under the weather" favorites (available here), you probably know I love this cream. It is my #1 baby skincare product and I believe every mom should have a jar on hand. Before bed, I put this on her face (especially her cheeks and chin) to prevent dryness and to soothe her skin. It smells amazing and works wonders! Available here.
